At a meeting today we looked at refining our plan to better fit on the narrow site. We also talked about separating the work and sleeping spaces. We talked about making the workspaces more dynamic and interactive.
We will work on having three spaces with different characteristics:
1. Living spaces - backed by rammed earth wall, sunken into ground slightly, - a quite grounded space with expansive views to the south and breezes from the creekbed. Thermal mass releases heat into living space when temperatures cool down.
2. Workspaces - a lightweight dynamic structure - louvre windows operated by the inhabitants according to breezes and use of building - on ground level, accessed from the courtyard - separate from other areas so as to separate work from home
3. Sleeping spaces - upstairs, small cool breezy spaces at night - opening out onto the roof garden which would be a nice place to be when the sun was going down - cool elevated place in late afternoon. Not used much through the day when they would be hot.
Tomorow we will work on finalising the plan and the placement of the three spaces around the courtyard/creekbed.
