BETTER FOR KAKADU STU - HAVE BEEN WORKING ON SIMILAR IDEA SO MAY AS WELL POST IT

The communal centre is an open verandah for relaxing, eating, working etc. shaded by a large roof. The perimeter of the verandah will be flyscreened and have some sort of stacking shutter system for battening down during the rainy season The cube/box sitting beneath the shade roof, but separate from it, is skewed to gain maximum nw/se breezes and screened all over with some sort of slatted shading/breeze catching device. See below. The individual sleeping pods are my 'brolgas' that will contain bed, bathroom facilities (not necessarily separate) and room for a desk.

First roof for communal area was rolled, perhaps this better as more compatible with brolga birdy pods - good for water collection, although on second thoughts gutter would have to be huge to cope with a big wet season downpour! Hmmn... have to have quite tilted with an overflow system thingy.
PS Its strange doing designs that may never be realised because its a team effort, but fun though. Next week its down to real work; sleeves rolled up time, drawing all those horrible sectiony thingos.

This is the core service unit that houses kitchen,toilet/basin and laundry . Kitchen, fridge and pantry this side. This core unit is 2ooo x 3800 on a 12000 x 5000 verandah.

Bathroom, laundry and extra storage this side.

Site plan - This long skinny site is going to prove difficult for siting our Domus bearing in mind thelong section has toface North and we have to maximise use of the local prevailing winds.

Made this for tutorial to try and explain my roof concept.
